Blue Flag Art Competition:
Congratulations to Lydia who won 2nd prize in the junior category for her creative drawing ‘Love your Beach’. She was presented with a Blue Flag Towel and lots of pother goodies. Well done to everyone for taking part.
Art Work:
The Senior Room have been super busy producing some wonderful pieces of art over the last few weeks. They learned about Picasso and responded to his art work by designing and creating their own portraits.
Beautiful interpretations of Peacocks and their variety of colours.
Cliffs of Moher Art paintings:
The girls and boys have been very busy entering art competitions. This one was about the Cliffs of Moher Landscape. The children did paintings to show off the wonderful tourist attraction ‘Cliffs of Moher’.
‘A Day at the Races’ Art Competition:
The students entered an art competition in conjunction with the Annual Point to Point at Quakerstown, Boston, Tubber Co. Clare on Easter Sunday , 16th April 2017. The theme was ‘A Day at the Races’. All the boys and girls created their own image to represent this title.
Mother’s Day:
The children were busy making Mother’s Day cards and flower bouquets to show their mother’s how special they are.
St Valentine’s Day:
The children were very excited celebrating Valentine’s day. The children learned about St Valentine and how loving and caring he was. The senior room made love baskets for their Valentine’s while the junior room made Valentine’s cards. The children also made cookies and brought home sweets as a treat for their Valentine.
Christmas Time:
The children have been busy making reindeer and Elf Selfies just in time for Christmas. The children used all left over cardboard and re usable materials to make their reindeer and they had so much fun all week creating their own art piece.
The children got into the spirit of Halloween and made their own masks, pumpkins and enjoyed playing Halloween Games. The children also dressed up in their costumes on the Friday of the mid term break. Everyone looked really spooky and scary. The children had lots of fun describing their characters and showing off their costumes to everyone.
This week was Space Week: 3rd October to 7th of October. The whole school learned lots about Our Solar System and the planets especially Earth. The Junior room traveled to space in Mr Rocket and really enjoyed making and painting their very own Space Rocket. While the Senior room explored lots of materials to make the solar system. The children really enjoyed learning about Space and had great fun completing the art.
The children have been working very hard during the month of September. They have being painting Autumn pictures, putting Humpty Dumpty back together again, making play dough and drawing and painting self-portraits. The children love doing art and have had lots of fun so far this year.
The children were busy making lovely cards, flowers and awards for Mother’s Day. The children worked really hard and really enjoyed getting to show their mothers how much they love them.
The children got right into the spirit of Valentines by designing their own special cards and messages for those they love.
The senior room have being learning all about Tom Crean.Tom Crean, was an Irish seaman and Antarctic explorer from Annascaul in County Kerry.The children depicted the story of Crean’s adventures through artwork.
The children in Ms Bennett’s room are also learning about Hans Christian Andersen. Hans Christian Andersen was a Danish author best known for writing children’s stories including “The Ugly Duckling”. The children did lovely art work showing the story of the Ugly Duckling.
The children of Boston N.S. are taking part in the Blue Star Flag this year. As part of this they are learning about some of the EU countries. One EU country they are learning about is Denmark. The Lego Group was founded in 1932 in Denmark and as a result the whole school took part in ‘Lego afternoon’. The children brought in their own lego and had lots of fun constructing different buildings, people, vehicles and much more. This was also great to interlink construction art to maths i.e. shapes, lines and angles, patterns, length, weight. The children thoroughly enjoyed this experience.

Ms Bennett’s class have been learning about the Red Squirrel. They did beautiful paintings.
Miss Lee’s are beginning to get ready for Halloween the children designed skeleton pictures and bats, its starting to look spooky in Boston N.S.
The children in the Senior room were learning about Pablo Picasso and were inspired by ‘The Child with the Dove’ and they were also up-cycling.
The children were inspired by the book ‘Where the Wild Things are’ and created some scary ‘Wild Things’.
The children were all involved in ‘International Dot Day’ around the 15th ish of September. The children listened to the story of The Dot by Peter H Reynolds and got creative and made their mark!
The junior room created some beautiful hand designs for art. They also created some lovely name paintings.
Ms. Lee’s room created wonderful self portraits to start off the school year for 2015.
